Looking back in what inspired us as young lads in our neighborhood, since of being alternative always seemed cool, unreachable or unattainable. Our first challenge was to incorporate Alternative clothing as a Chilly-O sensibility to exude a sense of “We do what we want, they can’t influence us!” In a juxtaposed sensed the clothing worn by the kids belonging to the Hip Hop and Urban culture also exuded a sense of alternative-ness which owes its origins dating back to 1970s. At that time, alternative wear was considered as a rebellious way of being fashionable and urban clothing was regarded as quite controversial clothing and this is probably the connection between hip-hoppers, punks, skaters, graffiti artist etc.

Alternative wear which originated in America has become significantly popular. Culture clothes has remained one of the most popular expressions especially among the younger generation. From weird t-shirts with controversial statements to other seemingly intriguing clothing, alternative clothing was regarded to be unconventional and looked down upon by all and sundry.

However, things started changing for good and the world has now accepted the concept of culture clothes and it’s style. Alternative appears to be good statement of expression. Nowadays, you can easily find a number of people wearing sports clothing to carve a niche in the world of fashion and make a fashionable statement. Urban clothing and alternative clothing has become the latest trend among those who want to express their individuality.
